"Hole in the Wall" is a perfect description for this lil jewel on Duval St. We were starved and tired, and Joe's chicken shack really renewed our energy for a show we wanted to attend. I'm sure it was the best "fast food", I've had.
Hubby had the "broasted" chicken that he said was so scrumptious, crispy, juicy, tender, with a side of cheesy tater-tots. I opted for the pot-pie(rectangular-not round; deep pan). Best part $7. Wow! Tender, white chicken with carrots, corn, peas, celery, potatoes in succulent gravy under a perfect crust, seasoned tastefully. We ate at the table for two on the edge of the sidewalk, with great music and sounds and sights of the city. The service was great, they even helped us with directions to our next spot on our to-do list(reservation at "Little Pearl" for the next evening; before the comedy show we were planning on later at "Bottle Caps").
We are planning on visiting Joe's again on our way out of town, for some delicious car(road) food to travel with.
This is truly "comfort food". Joe's also has alcoholic offerings as well, and is open LATE. -

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Now, people write something like that and everyone reading it assumes that the writer is exaggerating. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!!
My wife asked for a plain salad without dressing to go. The moron behind the counter got angry and told her that they don't serve plain salad. She pointed to the menu and what appeared to be a basic salad was listed. When she mentioned this, all hell broke loose. He started screaming (really) that we should just leave. I thought he was on drugs.
He has obviously failed at whatever he's attempted in his life and wound up a pathetic person working at a place he probably hates.
STAY CLEAR. If this guy had a gun I'm pretty sure he would have shot us for asking for a plain salad! -

My husband and i stopped in for lunch on Friday, Feb 2 around 12:30. There was one guy sitting behind the counter doing something on a computer and he didn't bother to even greet us... We were the only people in there! I looked at the food behind the glass and noticed there was only a couple pieces of boasted chicken in the tray. I asked him if there was fresh chicken cooking and he said he just opened and that the chicken in the tray is fresh... The rude attitude from this guy was off the chart!!
My husband turned around to walk out of the restaurant and not realizing that i was still looking at the menu behind the counter..i actually saw and heard the guy say "Go... Get the hell outta here" to my husband. I slid over to ask him if he was the owner of the establishment and what his name was, he said i didn't need to know his name and that he was going to call the police on me if i didn't walk out. I told him to go ahead and call the police, then I'm sure then I'd get to talk to the manager.
This guy was about mid 30's... White average build.. maybe balding....... My husband then walked back in and said let's go honey.... This guy has huge issues with anger and hates his job., Why would we ever want to eat anything he's even close to.
So.... We left and went to the Boathouse for an amazing customer service experience and great food!!
By the way owner.. Or whoever is running this chicken place... you have a great product, get rid of the guy I'm writing about before he ruins your business!!! -

Open late, and devilishly tasty fried macaroni bites, with a street-side table that's great for people watching. They're open late, making them tempting to hit at all hours.

I stopped in around 1am on a weekend. They were out of chicken legs so I had to get a thigh. IT has a delicious crispy batter on it. Very tender meat. Each piece is a la carte or you can get a meal platter. I got a side of white cheese macaroni (AMAZING). It is with cork screw noodles and rich and creamy. I also had a side of mashed potatoes that were mashed in front of me! Super fresh, but I didn't like the flavor. Needed salt or some type of seasoning. They leave the skins on the potatoes. I was not a fan of the brown gravy either. Had a vinegar flavor to it. There are about 5 barstools you can sit at to eat or take it to go. All of this food cost me $7. There is a bike rack in front to park your bike.
